
Stacey Biel is a long-time San Juan County resident who cares deeply about this community and the people who call it home. Her life has been shaped by a strong belief in service, personal responsibility, and treating others with fairness and respect. Along the way, she has continued to grow as a leader through programs like Leadership San Juan and Leadership New Mexico, experiences that reflect both her commitment to learning and her dedication to serving her community well. Those who know Stacey know her as someone who is grounded, thoughtful, and deeply invested in San Juan County not just as a judge, but as a neighbor, community member, and leader who understands the values that matter here most.
Judge Biel has devoted nearly 40 years to the legal profession and to serving the people of San Juan County with fairness, experience, and integrity. Her background includes nearly 12 years as Magistrate Judge, service as Probate Judge and Judge Pro Tempore for Farmington Municipal Court, along with years of experience in District Court, Municipal Court, and the San Juan County District Attorney’s Office. She has also taken on leadership roles in respected legal organizations and was appointed by the New Mexico Supreme Court to serve as a mentor judge, helping train and guide magistrate judges across New Mexico. That depth of experience, paired with her commitment to justice and community, is what makes Judge Biel such a trusted and capable leader on the bench.

As a long-time San Juan County resident, Judge Biel has shown her commitment to this community not only through her work on the bench, but through years of civic involvement and volunteer leadership. Her service has included Rotary International, where she served as both Club President and Treasurer, as well as board service with the Boys & Girls Club, Salvation Army, Theater Ensemble Arts, and Halvorson House. She has also served on the San Juan County Voter Board of Registration, participated in the Farmington Public Schools Redistricting Committee, and remained active in organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, and the Four Corners Better Business Bureau. That record of service reflects what has always defined Judge Biel’s approach: showing up, giving back, and working to make San Juan County a stronger place for families, neighbors, and the future. .
